The long tenon will fit into the body better and can't be rocked into position. Does this really matter? I don't know. But, aside from any tonal considerations, the long tenon guitars appear to be better built to me. The neck preference is likely just because I am a large man (6'6") and have huge hands, so I give that one a pass as being real personal preference but do not think it has much effect on tone.
